Report from Mrs. Jarboe, GHS Choir Director Mrs. Jarboe is glad to see such great parent support for the band program. She is also very impressed by Mr. Budge, who is becoming known around the state as he begins his career. Mrs. Jarboe is also glad we’re doing a trip. Choir has taken many trips, and Mrs. Jarboe feels it takes the program to another dimension. The competition we will be participating in, Heritage Festival, is very well-respected. Participation is by invitation only. Mrs. Jarboe offered to help in any way she can. She has many procedures in place. During trip years, all choir fundraising goes to the trip. During non-trip years, fundraising goes to the Choir Account. Choir asked Grant Boosters for $3,000 for their last trip. 32 students went. She added that she enjoys the camaraderie with the music department and sees the potential for creating a performing arts major in the future. 5. Band Council Liaison’s report Band Council is selling band shares, as represented by a handsome stock certificate. There will be a table selling these at the Winter Concert. They are keeping a bulletin board of pictures in the Band Room, and welcome new additions. They are talking about developing varsity letters for band. They are also interested in purchasing disposable cameras for student use at events. 6. Treasurer’s report – Rosemarie Etemad-Green There is $1,381.67 in the Band Boosters account. The Trip Account is in arrears. It was not clear what the cause of this is; Rosemarie will investigate. Kids are using the box in the Band Room to drop off their receipts after making payments at the student store. Rosemarie records the payments under the proper student’s name, insuring that your student gets credited for the amounts you pay. 7. A Broadway Romance went for $115, Inside the Score went for $180 and A Yuletide Spectacular went for $130. Jazz Band was bought for $1,800.
