Grant High School Band Boosters' By Laws | ||||
Drafted Nov. 2004 Presented to the membership at its Feb. 16, 2005 meeting Revised May 15, 2007 Article I – Name and Purpose 1. The name of this organization shall be the Grant Band Boosters. 2. The purpose of the organization is to foster, promote and support the Grant High School instrumental music program. Article II - Membership Membership in the organization shall consist of the parents of high school band members, interested school patrons, band students, and the band director. Article III - Meetings 1. Regular meetings shall be held monthly. The specific meeting time shall be determined at the first general meeting of the school year. 2. Robert’s Rules of Order shall govern all meetings of the organization. 3. A quorum shall consist of the members present at each meeting. Article IV – Officers and Elections The officers shall consist of the President, President Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer. 1. The President shall preside at all the meetings and appoint committee chairpersons. The President shall be a member ex officio of all committees except the nominating committee. 2. The President Elect shall perform duties of the President in his or her absence and act in an advisory capacity at all times. The President Elect shall assume the office of President in the year following his or her term as President Elect. In case of inability to serve or resignation of the President, the President Elect shall fill the unexpired term. 3. The Secretary shall keep the minutes of all Executive Board and booster meetings and make these available to the membership through a written report. 4. The Treasurer shall act as custodian of the organization's funds, maintain financial records, invest funds, and submit reports as requested. 5. The Executive Board shall consist of all elected officers. The Executive Board shall have general supervision of the affairs of the club, and shall meet at times determined by the president or by a majority of the Executive Board. Article V - Vacancies Vacancies occurring in any elective office shall be filled by nominations from the Executive Board and elected by simple majority of the general membership present at the next scheduled meeting. The Vice-President or President-Elect shall fill any vacancies until the election occurs. Article V - Committees Standing committees shall include Equipment, Programs, Hospitality, Uniforms, Historian, and such others as the Executive Board shall find necessary. Article VI -Nominations and Elections 1. The terms of office shall be one year. 2. At the regular March meeting, a nominating committee of not fewer than three members shall be named for the purpose of proposing the names of candidates for the offices of President Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer at the April meeting. Nominations may also be made from the floor at the April meeting. 3. Officers of the Association shall be elected at the regular May meeting and shall assume their duties on June 1. Article VII - Amendments These by-laws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at a membership meeting. Proposed amendments shall be available to every member prior to the vote.
