The Boosters meet on the third Tuesday of every month (the fourth Tuesday in November and no meeting in December) at 7pm in the Grant High Band Room. We receive a report from Mr. Budge as well as discussing future projects. There's always something new going on. Join us!

Minutes

1. Introductions
Present at the meeting were Janet Range, Kaia Range, Ralph Erwin, Rosemarie Etemad-Green, Susan Shepperd, Steve Singleton, Lonny Doi, Karen Cathcart, Gay McNeil, Karen Samson, Klari Crabtree, Deborah Zitrin, and Nicholas Budge.

2. Approve January’s Minutes
January’s Minutes were approved.

3. Director’s Report - Mr. Budge
Mr. Budge was doing double duty at Pep Band, and was not able to make a full report.

4. Band Council Liaison Report - Kaia Range
Band Council met today. They have formed a Decorations Committee to decorate the Band Room for the Cluster Concert. Council will also hang up band shares. They will look into laminating decorations.

There will be a talent show on the trip. Kids need to sign up ahead of time. There will also be karaoke - we have use of a small machine we can bring on the plane. We do need karaoke CD’s.

Thanks for snacks for Pep Band. We’re almost out.

We need student volunteers to help set up for PIL Solo/Ensemble Competition on Fri. afternoon. (The competition is Sat. 2/24) Mr. Budge has arranged for a truck to deliver pianos. The reason we get to host this year is that the Wilson cluster had multiple conflicts, and more than one-half the performers are from Grant.

5. Treasurer’s report - Rosemarie Etemad-Green
The letter campaign raised $9.045. to date. There is $3,284 in the Band Booster Account, much of which is designated trip money. Statements for the trip have been sent out, and payments are coming in. Chocolate money needs to come in. Because the cost of the trip was adjusted after the letter campaign, some people overpaid and have a credit. If you overpaid, please let Rosemarie know if you would like to: 1) receive a refund; 2) apply the money to purchase of a DVD of a Disneyland performance ($35, specify Jazz Band or Wind Ensemble; or 3) donate the money to our scholarship fund. Thanks to your generosity, Band Boosters was able to grant trip scholarships to those in need.

Rosemarie’s daughter is graduating this year, so Rosemarie will not be continuing as Treasurer next year. Rosemarie has graciously offered to work with the incoming Treasurer to ensure a smooth transition. Thank you for your exemplary service, Rosemarie!

6. Trip report - Susan Shepperd/Mr. Budge

7. Pep Band report
Pep band is going well. The kids really appreciate the snacks parents are donating.

8. New Business
Upcoming concerts and festivals:

-- Grant Cluster concert, Thursday, Feb. 22, 7 pm

Students from Beaumont Middle School, Fernwood Middle School, and our Wind Ensemble will play. Call is 6:30, playing is 7pm. We’ll have handouts, cookies and juice, and a gifty item for the 8th graders. The concert will be about 1 hour 15 minutes long.

-- PIL Solo /Ensemble Competition, Saturday, Feb. 24.

-- Early Spring Concert, Thursday, March 1, 7pm. Concert and Symphonic Bands will play

-- Heritage Festival, L.A., CA March 8-10

-- Northwest Invitational Concert Band Festival

-- Clackamas Community College Jazz Festival
