2009-2010 Band Council

The Grant High Band Council consists of students who were elected to participate in the leadership of the bands at Grant High School.

These students' duties include: regular meetings to discuss band events, fundraising, etc.; reorganizing/decorating the band room; input on music selections; fostering spirit in the group; working with the Band Boosters for the promotion of the program.

Band Council Responsibilities:

It is the duty of all executive council members to attend two monthly meetings. Band Council meetings are on the second tuesday of each month, during lunch. Band Booster meetings are held on the third tuesday of each month, at 7pm. Both meetings are held in the band room. Ensemble Representatives are only expected to attend the Band Council meetings. Membership in the Band Council requires a great commitment. Musicians should only become candidates if they are willing to sacrifice their own time and energy for the good of the group.

Organize events for workshop in August
Ensemble Reps- take more time for them next year:
Announcements every block day after Tuesday lunch meeting
Ensemble reps communicate with each other more
Midori- email minutes right after meetings so they can be presented the next day
Ensemble reps need to have more things to do
Workshop Prep-
Parent meeting this summer (possibly without band council)
Prep possibly during drum line auditions (Aug. 25-26)
Lockers- 3 days this summer to install (volunteers- Mr. Cook in charge)
Pep Band Music-
Schedule a day for volunteers to organize
Get everyone involved (not just council)
Send out workshop flier by beginning of July with questionnaire by Budge
New Pep Band Music-

Next Meeting-
Right before next booster meeting so there is just 1 meeting this summer
